Award winning photographer Mary Schwindt has been taking photographs since she was a student at the University of New Mexico where she graduated with an emphasis in photography. In those days, she shot with an old 35 mm camera and developed her own film and prints. Today she works strictly in digital, using mostly her Samsung Galaxy phone. After graduating, she spent many years as a Construction Project Manager and General Contractor in New Mexico and Arizona. She was able to devote more time to her photography after retirement. Mary’s husband, a professional landscape painter, has greatly influenced and encouraged her new career. Until recently, Mary and her husband lived in the American Southwest in New Mexico, Colorado, and Arizona, and in 2015 they moved to the Austin, Texas area. She has traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. Many of her photographs come from those places including the Southwest, Canada, Mexico, Colombia, France, Spain, Morocco, and Italy. Her work has been shown at the Museum of New Mexico in Santa Fe and in several juried shows in the Austin area. Her work is on display at The Ritzy Texan in Burnet, Texas. She is a member of the Austin area Creative Arts Society (CAS) and Artists of Central Texas (ACT).
